Austin Montoya

Coach Austin Montoya is a dedicated and passionate football coach, and is currently in his fourth year coaching at Schurr High School. Throughout his coaching career, he has achieved great success, leading his teams to three Almont league titles in football and securing a Southland conference title during his time at the University of Incarnate Word.


Under his guidance, numerous athletes have gone on to compete at the collegiate level, including standout players such as Michael Torres at USC, Lance Babb at UC Davis, Miguel Aguero at the University of La Verne, Anthony Cobian at Whittier College, and Efrain Martinez, Fabian Eacamilla-Sanchez, Christian Breazeale, and Michael Brown at Glendale College. Additionally, players like JD Escobar, Adam Arias, and Andrew Murguia have continued their athletic careers at ELAC.


One of the standout moments in Coach Montoya’s coaching career was winning the first D-1 FCS conference title in school history while coaching at UIW. However, beyond the victories on the field, Coach Montoya takes immense pride in seeing his athletes succeed academically and graduate from college.


With a strong emphasis on mentorship, hard work, and accountability, Coach Montoya motivates his players to perform at their best and reach their full potential both on and off the field. His dedication to the sport of football and commitment to the success of his athletes make him a respected and admired coach in the community.
